Sticks and Stones

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me

One name whispered

Ear to ear

An ugly lie for all

To hear

A teasing joke

A covert glare

“ your bag’s ugly

What’s that hair?”

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me

She’s had enough

She drags her feet

Her lonely heart

Begins to weep

She’ll toss and turn

Then when they sleep

Pull! The rope

Take one breath deep

And

Then

Her

Thoughts

Begin

To

Seep-

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me
