The Metamorphosis Of Narcissus

The Metamorphosis of Narcissus

A hand rises from the frozen lake,

where there is no longer

any joy

And still Narcissus stares

It carries him up,

above the mirror

in its rough fingertips

And still Narcissus stares

The handsome boy starts

to metamorphosis

into mother nature’s egg

And still his spirit stares

And the great hand

from deep beyond,

starts to take a different shape

and still his spirit stares

And the egg

hatches

into a head

And still a woman stares

And she gets up

she walks away,

and then comes civilization,

and the mirror still reflects.close-up-of-dali-s-metamorphos

Lost

The boat should have come by now

The child said to the mom

The big boat with the children

The future that I’ve wished for

The boat which will bring us

To a better home

The one with our  happiness

Shouldn’t it have come by now?

The boat should have come by now

The mom said to the child

The one with the broken trust

Full of empty promises

The one which should have brought us

To a better home

The one in which I lost faith

It will never come by now.

Words

They spill out of my mouth

Ugly little things,

I try to stop them but I can’t

Dragons unleashed to the world

They can never be taken back

They fly towards their target,

Beating

Punching

Destroying goodwill

Oh, but look!

It is contagious

they invade the air

it is too late now

‘til one girl

opens her mouth

and out flies a dove.

The Prize

Thump thump thump

my feet crunch against the ground

I need to

make it to the end

for the prize is incredible

I pass a beautiful garden

full of lovely flowers

that welcome me to come and smell their delicious scent

but I ignore them and

keep running

for the sooner I arrive the better the prize will be

I pass a hallway full of doors

that lend me their keys and invite me in

to explore

but I ignore them and

keep running

for the sooner I arrive the better the prize will be

I run on a beach where

the pearly sand blows

and the waves crash against the shore

and when

the tide retreats

it leaves thousands of seashells

that echo the sound of

their past

but I ignore them and

keep running

for the sooner I arrive the better the prize will be

and I finally arrive

and everybody claps

and I hold out my hands and ask

for my

prize

and they look at me surprised

and say

the prize was the journey

Family

I’m surrounded

from everywhere

by arms and toes

and feet and hair

By screams and shouts

and tiny feet

By big rough hands

and ‘time to eat’s!

By dings and bongs

and sounds and smells

and a family

that works so well

By love and cheer

And all goodwill

By a mom that stays home when I’m ill

While grubby hands steal from my till

And spend the lot on sweets

And though sometimes

I sigh, annoyed

At my little sis

Breaking all my toys

And my little brother’s

Copy-paste

Of all my hobbies,

All my tastes

And my elder sisters’

Furious screams

When I borrow clothes

And ‘tear the seams!’

And my parent’s

Glaring reprimands

If I eat before

I wash my hands

And the overall chaos

Accompanied

By seven tiny mouths

To feed

I love them all

And they love me

For after all

We are family

Sticks and Stones

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me

One name whispered

Ear to ear

An ugly lie for all

To hear

A teasing joke

A covert glare

“ your bag’s ugly

What’s that hair?”

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me

She’s had enough

She drags her feet

Her lonely heart

Begins to weep

She’ll toss and turn

Then when they sleep

Pull! The rope

Take one breath deep

And

Then

Her

Thoughts

Begin

To

Seep-

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me
